Service detail
1.Internal Verification Visits:
These take place between October and December with the second round of visits between March and June. Each visit should last no more than 1.5 hrs and involves the assessor and the student.
2.Clinical coach workshops/standardisation
Three meetings are held – October, February and July/August. All clinical coaches are invited and expected to attend. Meetings last no longer than 2hrs and cover updates from RCVS and QCA, feedback from IV visits, NPL reviews, blended learning tasks and selected units and trainer standadisation support. Information sheets are produced and emailed to non-attendants.
Summer meetings are aimed at new students together with clinical coaches during which techniques for collection of evidence and building NPL's are outlined.
3. NPL reviews
All student NPL's are reviewed on a termly basis. The evidence is sampled according to BGT’s sampling plan and incorporates completed blended learning tasks. This plan is generated from information acquired following the IV visits. Essentially we are verifying the evidence collected by students to demonstrate competency.
The IV will sample elements of the NPL during support visits.
A final check is carried out on completion of the NPL with a report generated.
4.Telephone Support
An intrinsic part of BGTs success is the level of telephone support provided. It is important that queries are dealt with promptly on a daily basis and telephone access is direct and personal.
5.Student Enrolment
Centres are responsible for student enrolment. This involves the checking of original educational certificates set against entry requirements together with RCVS enrolment paperwork. Enrolment fees are paid by the student directly to Bottle Green Training and then forwarded to the RCVS. Students must be enrolled on their training course prior their enrollment with the RCVS.
